A quick history for those visiting:

Franklin Square Gallery is located in a charming building nestled under the giant live oak trees of Franklin Square Park. The building itself is full of historic significance to the Brunswick County town.  Built in 1904, it opened as a schoolhouse and served the community in that role for 32 years.

From 1936 until 1978, the building served a variety of community needs, including the Southport City Hall, community building and the town library.

USO dances were held here too!

In 1979, when the City Hall was moved to the vacated Brunswick County Court House, the Associated Artists of Southport started the gallery with only 12 members.

Today, it is a showcase for talent, with over one hundred and thirty members and many more exquisite exhibit pieces on display!

We hope you'll come by!  We look forward to showing you around!
