Celebrating our 50th Anniversary!
As our nation celebrates its 250th birthday,
the Associated Artists of Southport (AAS) proudly
celebrate their own historic anniversary this year:
50 years of making and sharing art at Franklin Square Gallery,
the historic blue building with the white columns that is home to AAS.
The two-story structure at 130 E. West Street in Southport has led a life as colorful and varied as the art it now houses.
This year, AAS proudly celebrates 50 years of stewardship, preserving the building’s legacy as a beloved community space and
landmark of historic Southport.
Help us celebrate 50 years of art and culture at
Franklin Square Gallery!
We are inviting our community to contribute $50, representing $1 for each year of the gallery’s existence.

Holly Clarke-Dunn, Artist-instructor
The peace pole movement started in Japan in response to the bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Masahisa Goi, the originator, dedicated his life to spreading the message, "May Peace Prevail on Earth." Peace Poles bear this message, typically in different languages, on each of the four sides of the pole. We will be creating our own Peace Poles in an array of colors with this message and/or our own thoughts, quotes, prayers, or poetry, all with the intention of spreading a little more peace, love, and light in this world.
